Episode 21: Uniting Through Friendship

In this episode of Rarely Familiar, hosts Haley, Jen, and Tram are joined by Patty Dunn, Executive Director of Highland Friendship Club (HFC). Patty shares insights on HFC's inclusive programs that foster friendships and skill-building among teens and adults with disabilities. The hosts and Patty discuss the importance of community, including impactful events like the Really Big Game and stories of inspiration from Gillette Children's Hospital. This episode highlights the power of starting small to create supportive communities for people with disabilities.

Highland Friendship Club Overview

  • Established for ages 13 and older for people with disabilities

  • Catalog of program releases for Spring, Fall/Winter, and Summer with over 30+ activities weekly

  • No fee to become a member. Becoming member is a profile set up

  • On average Highland Friendship Club (HFC) programs are $10 for online and $15 for in person.  Waiver funds can be used and there are scholarships available.

  • 200 + members
